We are delighted that our Baytree Tech Hub is a finalist in this year’s AJ100 Best Use of Technology Award.

In a first for the logistics and industrial sector, our ‘Works’ tech experts collaborated with Baytree Logistics Properties to pioneer the use of Mixed Reality technology at Baytree’s new industrial/logistics building in Dunstable, which has been described as ‘the world’s most sustainable shed’.

To showcase Baytree Edge, the innovation section of Baytree, we constructed and fitted out – from recycled materials – a bespoke on-site ‘Tech Hub’ to demonstrate the leading innovations and significant occupier benefits that the development will provide.

Using BIM, AR and VR and Microsoft Hololens we provided high quality, detailed visualisations showing alternative office environments and racking layouts to potential building users prior to it being built.  Visitors to the Tech Hub were able to experience numerous virtual warehouse and internal office fitouts, interacting with easily editable, life-scale BIM modelled environments.

We use BIM across Chetwoods to ensure seamless collaboration, communication and control between all partners involved in the planning, design, delivery and management of our buildings. BIM provides the flexibility to integrate, interrogate and improve a design as required throughout the different stages of a project. To date we have completed 9,000,000 sq.ft of projects covering a range of sectors within a BIM environment with a further 4,000,000 sq.ft on site.

We also use Microsoft Hololens and Virtual Reality systems to create virtual spaces that clients can experience before they are built.
