Sainsbury’s Westwood Cross, a £28 million project by the Harvest Partnership, is a joint venture between Sainsbury’s Supermarkets Ltd and Westwood Cross owners Land Securities. The Project is the third phase of Chetwoods’ involvement in the development of Westwood Cross. The previous phases included a 70,000 sqft retail unit completed for Primark.
The scheme involved the relocation of the existing Sainsbury’s store onto an adjacent site to provide a new supermarket with 720 parking spaces, this was then followed by the demolition of the existing store to extend the site access road and provide a link to the main road network.
Chetwoods managed the detailed planning applications and designed Phase 2 to tender as a BIM pilot project for Sainsbury’s, with a co-ordinated 3-D Revit model issued for tender and the contract awarded to ISG plc. For more detail on the use of BIM in this project click through here.
