We are thrilled that Philippa Birch-Wood, director of our Thrive team, has been shortlisted for the AJ100 Sustainability Champion of the Year 2021 Award.

As Thrive Director Philippa has made it her goal to explain to our project teams and clients what sustainable design means in a simple and effective way. She has created our Thrive approach of 7 Design Drivers, which we use to influence the way we design and deliver our projects.

She has also worked to align our own offices to the UN Sustainable Development goals, helping us target zero waste and calculate our carbon footprint, and we are now proud to be a Planet Mark Accredited Climate Positive business.

Philippa was one of the first four Architects in the UK to get the WELL Accredited Professional qualification and outside her Chetwoods work she is UK Green Building Council local network co-ordinator for Birmingham and the West Midlands.

Thrive is one of the three elements of our brand’s 360-degree approach, ensuring that we design and deliver projects that can enhance our environment and improve our health and wellbeing. The other elements are Studio which puts the imagination, emotion and instinct into our designs, and Works which champions the digital delivery of projects.
